value/emphsis. Value brings drama and impact to a photo, I used it in this photo by making it black and white as well as creating deep shadows and bright lights.

Zen stones

shape and balance: balance creates a sense of stability in a photo, this photo uses that by the balancing of the two stones. it represents the feeling of equal weight.

out of place

colour and emphasis: colour is used in photography to create interest in a photo, I used it by putting the flowers against a bland background and using warm colours.

peering through the cracks

Lines and emphasis: Emphasis pulls the viewers eye to important parts of a photo. how this is used in this photo is that the wooden boards take up the entire frame except the eye. the wood is also blurred so your attention isn't drawn to it, merely leads us to the subject.

birds eye

Space and balance: space is area used or unused in a composition. the tree in the photo takes up hardly anything in this photo, the space above and through creates a feeling of openness.

against the wind

movement and texture: texture is the quality of objects and subjects in the photo, how it looks it feels. the hair in this photo is a great example of that. the sun highlights each strand and position that you can imagine the feeling of it.
