these photos use value as the element of art. The whitest of white and the darkest of darks allow every feature of these photos to jump out of the photo. The standout aspect can also be timeless and hold tons of emotions. Movement is the pinciple of design in these pictures. It lets the viewer to get lost in the backstory of the photo, such as what happened or how did this idea come to be? we can see the directon and even the action which caused the blur/movement and that creates tons of interest. the rule is fill the frame, it drives the 'in your face' photo home. No space for eyes to wonder, all eyes on the crazed subject and renforces the uncomforble look but attention keeping photo.
The process of making the recreation photo was setting up a light in front of a blank white background and having the subject there. To make the blur I set the shutter speed to go slower and the moved the camera slighty. It took many tries to have the eyes and mouth appear as double. I also had my subject attempt to replicate the crazed look by opening her eyes super wide and showing all her teeth. In the editing stage hightened the brightness and shadows to make everything pop like the original.
